Summary

This Privacy Policy explains what information TextBench Lab (https://textbenchlab.com) collects, how it is used and what choices you have. In this policy, "we" means the operator of TextBench Lab. We keep the amount of information we collect small.

The most important point: the tools on this site run in your browser. The text you enter into a tool is processed on your device and is not sent to our servers.

Third-party services such as Google may set cookies when you visit, mainly for analytics and advertising. These are described in detail below and in our Cookie Policy.

Information we do not collect

We do not receive, store or read the text you type or paste into our tools (Word Counter, Character Counter, Text Case Converter, Password Generator, JSON Formatter & Validator, Lorem Ipsum Generator, Remove Duplicate Lines and Text Diff Checker). That processing happens locally in your browser. We do not ask you to create an account, so we do not hold names, passwords or profiles.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the servers that deliver this site may keep standard log data when you visit. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. This information is used to keep the site secure, to diagnose technical problems and to understand general usage. We do not use it to identify you personally. Our web server deletes these logs automatically after about 14 days.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, a content delivery and security network. Every request passes through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and request details to deliver the pages quickly and to protect the site against attacks and abuse, under its own privacy policy. It may set a strictly necessary security cookie when it needs to check that a visitor is not an automated bot.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond to you.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 in the future to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular and which device types visitors use. If it is enabled, it will run only after you give consent to analytics. At the time of writing, analytics is not active and nothing is sent to Google for analytics.

If analytics is enabled, your browser will connect to Google, which will receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details and the pages you view, and Google Analytics will set cookies such as _ga.

We use this information in aggregate form to improve the site. We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. The site keeps one thing in your browser's local storage that is always needed: your cookie choice, so that we do not ask you on every page. It stays on your device and is never sent to a server.

We use or may use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising only after you consent to them, and these are set by third parties such as Google. The categories are explained in our Cookie Policy, together with instructions for managing them in your browser.

Advertising and third-party vendors

This site plans to show advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are not active at the time of writing, but the following applies as soon as they are.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com). You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

We do not control the cookies set by advertising partners or the information they collect. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you live in California, you may have the right to know what personal information a business collects, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. Advertising partners may collect information through cookies as described above, and you can limit this through the opt-out tools linked in this policy. To make a request, contact us at hello@textbenchlab.com.

Children's privacy

TextBench Lab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us at hello@textbenchlab.com and we will delete it.

Data retention

We do not store the text you enter into the tools. Standard server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and are then deleted. Analytics and advertising data held by Google or other vendors is kept according to their own retention settings and policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information held about you, to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise a right, email hello@textbenchlab.com. We may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes or when the law requires. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
